I started to watch a documentary last night called " Dont You Forget About Me" which i quite didn't finish as the red wine kicked in but it is the search for John Hughes and that got me thinking..................................................
What a wonderful director and writer he was and how he so enriched my life, tonight John i raise a glass to you and say "Thank You"
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

Writers Block!
Just thinking which can be dangerous in itself, why do i think i have to post one item a day when often it seems to me from the pressures of everyday life that maybe multiple posts are the way forward for me.
Then again i don't think i would want to read a blog where everything is posted once a month!

A Late Night Memory
My Brother had been banging on about a group called "The Gaslight Anthem" for a while and how good the CD "The 59 Sound" was before i got around too finally listening to it.It had been loaded on the i pod for a while before it got played as a last resort and somehow it turned into one of those slow burning CD's that just grows and grows and now has been played to death but just leaves me with the happy memories of driving home from the hospital late at night with this loudly playing...........
And i must say that the new album "American Slang" nicely carries on from the last album.

We Salute You!
I can't believe how long it is since my last post but i do believe that i have a good reason for the delay in updates.
Now sleeping soundly up stairs is my new 16 day old daughter,i know that this just didn't happen overnight but things never seem to go to plan as C happened to be late(Takes after her mother)but when i say late i should say two attempts to try and get her into the world spanning a week but i am getting side tracked from what i wanted to say and thats not talking about babies.
When i started writing this blog again the plan was a post a day for a year because "it couldn't be that hard?" so that why i find myself jumping off the couch to write a sincere thanks to all the people that write blogs on a daily basis that i take for granted,i know now that it does take time to write a good entertaining blog with original content and i swear i will never moan again when my favorite blogs are not always up to date and i have to wait a few days.
I realize also that i don't have the best attention span in the world as the number of posts that have been lost to the depths of wasted time day dreaming on the internet grows at an alarming pace but i'm still going just.............

Lyrics To Love

Post office clerks put up signs saying position closed
And secretaries turn off typewriters and put on their coats
Janitors padlock the gates
For security guards to patrol
And bachelors phone up their friends for a drink
While the married ones turn on a chat show
And they'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
Gentlemen time please, you know we can't serve anymore
Now the traffic lights change to stop, when there's nothing togo
And by five o'clock everything's dead
And every third car is a cab
And ignorant people sleep in their beds
Like the doped white mice in the college lab
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
Telephone exchanges click while there's nobody there
The Martians could land in the carpark and no one would care
Close-circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same videoevery day
And the stars of these films neither die nor get killed
Just survive constant action replay
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
Bill hoardings advertise products that nobody needs
While angry from Manchester writes to complain about
All the repeats on T.V.
And computer terminals report some gains
On the values of copper and tin
While American businessmen snap up Van Goghs
For the price of a hospital wing
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
They'll burn down the synagogues at six o'clock
And we'll all go along like before
And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

I Will Mostly Be Watching.........

Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy set at the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other. The series features the voices of
H. Jon Benjamin as suave master spy "Sterling Archer," whose less-than-masculine code name is "Duchess"; Jessica Walter as his domineering mother and boss, "Malory"; Aisha Tyler as his ex-girlfriend, "Agent Lana Kane"; George Coe as his aging-but-loyal butler, "Woodhouse"; Chris Parnell as ISIS comptroller and Lana's new love interest, "Cyril Figgis"; and Judy Greer as Malory's lovesick secretary, "Cheryl."

The Inheritance Track
I have had a yellow post it note floating around for months with the following on it-
"I like R4's idea of Inheritance Tracks too. Speakers choose one track that's been passed on to them from a parent, describing its significance, and another that they would like to pass on to their offspring."
Where on the internet i found this i can't remember but i really liked the idea so i can't claim credit for it as it looks like Radio 4 have the copyright.
I thought long and hard for the first track but it was only when i headed over to the Vinyl Villain blogspot that it gave me the track that i had been waiting for and now it seems an obvious choice in the spirit of the piece,Ladies and Gentlemen i present......................
To this day i can never understand was this band was never huge,i still love this song with a passion and it will always bring a smile to my face and everyone I've ever played it to loves it.Maybe similar in a way to Pulp and they where at the top of their game at this period i do firmly that "The Golden Mile" is a classic album on par with "Different Class"
To mark the 15 year anniversary of their debut album"Mornington Crescent"the band played a gig at the end 2009 at he venue KOKO which happens to be next door to Mornington Crescent tube station. If only i was still living in England........

Nearly Under The Radar.

Along time in the wilderness Woody Harrelson seems to be heading back into the limelight with the recent right choices of film roles.
Found this film purely by chance and so glad i did.Defendor is a crime fighter on a budget and so much more so make sure you watch as soon as possible, you won't be disappointed!

You Should See!

From Wikipedia-
Vinyl is a 2000 documentary film by Toronto filmmaker/record collector Alan Zweig. In the film, Zweig seeks not to talk to people who collect vinyl records to discuss music, but rather to discuss what drives someone to collect records in the first place. Zweig spends a large portion of the film in stylized self-filmed "confessions", where he expounds on his life in regards to record collecting, feeling it has prevented him from fulfilling his dreams of a family.
In addition to celebrities like Canadian director/actor Don McKellar and American Splendor creator Harvey Pekar, Zweig speaks to a variety of record collectors, including a car wash employee who claims to own over one million records and also claims to have memorized the track listing of every K-Tel collection he owns, a government employee who refuses to organize his collection because he doesn't want people to come over, and a man who threw out his large record collection rather than sell or give it away because he didn't want anyone else to own it.
One of those films only the internet could point you in the direction of.A film that i was just going to have a quick look at that kept me hooked to the early hours and i would recommend to anyone.

Now Playing!
One of the hardest things about posting on a blog is "What to post"which really defeats the idea of a blog because supposedly by having a blog you have a lot to say, really a blog is an eclectic mix of things that you either hold dear, think you know a lot about or what you want to rant about.
The blogs i tend to read all have music in common and their regular little items and features and Now Playing will be mine. The idea is to take a CD/album weather it be new or old and play it for a week, then to write any thoughts i have after that week.Yep it's as simple as that.
So the first album of choice will be........

I can remember playing this to death in my younger days and am surprised that i didn't wear the vinyl out.I had been a Cure fan from about the Seventeen Seconds LP when they were relatively still an unknown group and by the time that they got to "Head On The Door" had passed through a few lineups and musical changes. Can remember going to see them on this tour 2 nights in a row and getting to the gigs so early that we sat in wonder in the bar listening to the sound check as Robert Smith walked out of the hall to the t shirt stand to get two "Team Cure 86" shirts and the long drive home in the fog at 10 mph as it was that bad.
This is quite a bitter sweet album for me as it saw The Cure really pass into the mainstream and on to chart success,my obsession would finally die out after the Disintegration album and Prayer tour or did i just grow up!
Will this album remain just as good 25 years later or have the sands of time misted my views.
Wiki Fact # Screw and Six Different Ways have not been played live since the Head tour which i find hard to believe.

It's been a long time since i paid any attention to this blog and i must admit that i thought it was dead and buried but i kept being called back.
The whole idea about this blog was to log my thoughts and memories before time clawed them back from me but laziness just kept me from doing anything.
I have regular blogs that i read on a daily basis and am always disappointed when no new posts are added and i always think "How hard can it be"a self defeating question really as my blog entries will tell.Well that seed has grow so i really do want to see how hard it can be and how long before i give upon the challenge i set myself and that challenge being one entry a day for one full year without fail(bar acts of god due to insurance reasons!)So really how hard is it to make 365 posts..........
